Why do you want to join SEBI Grade A officer job; this is one of the difficult SEBI Interview Questions

SEBI or Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is the regulator for the securities market in India. It was established in 1988 and became an autonomous body on 12 May 1992 and was given statutory powers in 1992 with SEBI Act 1992 being passed by the Indian Parliament. The reasons to join SEBI are as follows:

  1. Work Profile

The main responsibilities of an officer of SEBI are as follows:

  • Approval of stock exchanges by-laws.
  • Amendment of by-laws of Stock Exchanges.
  • Inspection of Accounts of Stock Exchanges and various players.
  • Identify and Investigate any malpractices within Securities Markets
  • Taking steps for increasing Investors knowledge on Securities Markets
  • Suspension of Security tradings of a Stock Exchange
  • Granting and Withdrawing Recognition of a Stock Exchange

Apart from these, the officers’ duties revolve around functioning of the Security Markets, Stock Exchanges, Commodities Markets etc. in India.

The officers also look after facilitation of easy and fair trading practices, and to audit and track people who are using unfair means. As a person coming from finance background, I would love to do such a job that would help me apply my knowledge in the practical world. I also have strong analytical skills which I think is required for supervision of the stock market.
