Standard of the IIMs is a direct reflection of high placement offers that the students have received with all the strength they could muster. IIMs inspire students to be business professionals and redefines the paradigm of the business world, in which summer placements play an essential role.
Let’s have a cursory glance at the summer placement report of IIMs (Batch 2018-2020).
Starting with the summer placement process of IIM Ahmedabad that takes place cluster wise. For the batch of 2018-2020, the first cluster comprised of five cohorts: Advisory Consulting, Investment Banking & Markets, Management Consulting, Niche Consulting, and Private Equity, Venture Capital & Asset Management. The second cluster had six cohorts followed by the third cluster with eight cohorts. The topmost recruiter of IIM Ahmedabad was Amazon with 14 offers.
IIM Summer Placements witnessed 427 students of IIM Bangalore getting 442 summer placement offers during October 23-27, 2018. Leading recruiters were BCG, EY, Goldman Sachs, P&G, ITC, Samsung, Indigo, Asian Paints and many more. The highest number of students, i.e., 123 were placed in Consulting sector whereas IIM Calcutta upheld its reputation of ‘Finance Campus’ by offering maximum summer of internships in Banking and Finance Services domain, Citibank being the largest recruiter. Consulting sector made 22% of the offers with BCG emerging as the largest recruiter. Anheuser-Busch InBev (AB InBev) was the largest recruiter in FMCG sector and Aditya Birla Group for General Management and Leadership role. Offers in Product Management, E-commerce & Operations were made by Amazon, Uber, Cloudtail, OLX, Swiggy, etc. Also, Boehringer Ingelheim, Grofers, Byju’s, Kimberly Clark, PhonePe, Salesforce, Stryker were the top new recruiters in IIM Calcutta.

The batch of 421 students in IIM Kozhikode was placed in 3.5 days with a median stipend of Rs.2 Lakh and the highest stipend of Rs.3 Lakh. A total of 105 companies participated in this placement process. Of all the recruiters, more than 60% feature in the Fortune 500 list of Companies. The maximum number of students were placed in Sales and Marketing sector with firms like HUL, ITC Ltd., Nestle, etc.
The pool of talented, experienced students of IIM Indore surpassed the previous year placements by witnessing a stupendous increase of 24% in the average stipend offered from last year. IIM Indore attracted 150+ recruiters, out of which 37 were prominent new recruiters. Students were offered roles in Automobiles, BFSI, Consulting, E-commerce, Energy, FMCG, Infrastructure & Real Estate, Healthcare, Pharmaceuticals, Technology, Media and Telecom industries.
A total of 140 domestic and international recruiters participated during IIM Summer Placements and involved in hiring the 34th batch of IIM Lucknow. Half of the offers were made in Sales & Marketing and Consulting sector, followed by 19% in E-commerce, 17% in Finance, 11% in General Management and 3% in System/IT.
IIM Shillong wrapped up its summer placement process with the highest stipend of Rs. 3 Lakh and an average stipend of Rs. 1.12 Lakh that’s a 29% rise as compared to last year. Highest Stipend in IIM Nagpur was Rs. 2.5 Lakh. With 37% non-engineers and gender diversity of 25%, IIM Udaipur has concluded summer placements for its batch of 232 students.
While many IIMs have clocked their IIM Summer Placements , some are still hacking the vines away to reveal the oases ahead. Kudos to all!
