It is a known fact that people look for Best Paying Jobs in India even when they are only searching colleges to take admission for studies, but they are more interested in knowing college campus placements.
With the placement season on, the media is reporting around graduates by quoting massive “million dollar” packages. The white-space in every newspaper seems to be filled with reports of placement scenarios where international companies are offering hefty salaries to new graduate and master graduate crops.
In 2013, the highest pay package was Rs 65 lakh from Microsoft. Around 52 students got jobs on Tuesday with 56 job offers.
As per the reports, more than 100 firms visit campuses like IIT and IIM and many more for the recruitment process. The first phase of the placement process was held from December 01 to 21, 2014, the second phase was from January 02, 2015.

- Delhi Technological Institute:
US-based cab-hailing company Uber Technologies has offered a starting salary of Rs 1.25 crore per annum to a Delhi student, Siddharth, a computer science student of Delhi Technological University (DTU) and will work as a software engineer in San Francisco from this year.
When converted to dollars, his annual package comes to $1, 52,974.On an average, an Indian techie earns $ 1, 00,000 per annum in the US which makes Siddharth’s salary a little more than an average’s. An average American software-engineer in the US, gets anything between $1,40,000 to $1,70,000… depending on which school has the graduate passed out from.
- Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT):
Social networking giant Facebook has hired an engineering student for a fat annual pay package of Rs 1.34 crore, one of the biggest offers made to alumnus of any technical institution of the country. A B.Tech student from the institute, who has requested that his name be withheld for “security reasons”, received a letter on March 27 from Facebook confirming his appointment and the annual pay package on offer was stated to be USD 262,500 (around Rs 1.34 crore). Recruitment process began with a mail from Facebook in October 2016 which was followed by nine rounds of telephonic interviews before he was finally selected for the plush job which would require the student, who hails from Kanpur, to move to Menlo Park in California after finishing his software engineering course at the institute.
- Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT):
1.42 core is the highest annual pay package that was clinched by two Computer Science students in IIT-Delhi in the first week of placements in 2014. This ensures that they join the league of some of the other IITians in the country who clinched the same amount, all offered by the social media company, Facebook. There were two students who were offered an annual pay package of 2, 30,000 dollars within the first few days.
- IIM Ahmedabad:
IIM-Ahmedabad student, who has bagged a job offer of $152,000 (approximately Rs 66, 00,000) in 2005.Executives several years senior turned a delicate shade of green. The effect on the student community has been electrifying. A million more I-want-to-attend-IIM-A dreams have been created in one fell swoop.
- Indian Institute Of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IIT BHU):
Job offers at IIT are showering, a whopping amount of Rs. 2.03 crore from Oracle US has been offered to a Varanasi student of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Banaras Hindu University in 2014.
Another IIT BHU had received an offer from Google Mountain View for a Rs.1.63 crore pay package.
- Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B):
20-year-old Astha Agarwal gets Rs 2.1-crore job offer from Facebook in 2014. Astha Agarwal had no inkling when she signed up as a user on Facebook that she would one day get an offer from the social networking company. She had joined FB to keep in touch with people she met in Azerbaijan during the International Junior Science Olympiad, but in 2009 she was at FB headquarters in Menlo Park, California, for summer internship. After the May-to-July internship, she got the offer to work as a software engineer at FB.
- BITS Pilani:
Thoppilan Romal Devassy and Kannan Sunder both natives of Mumbai are seventh semester students of the computer science branch in BITS, Pilani and have created history by being offered a whopping $ 2,35000 annual package (more than 1.44 Cr) by Google, which is the highest Google has offered anyone in the country in 2013. Their innings with Google begun in the summer of 2014 in Mount View, US. Google has also shortlisted another student from BITS but are yet to issue the offer letter.
- IIT Bombay:
Aditi Laddha from IIT-Bombay, who got a job offer from Uber International, the highest one across many IITs. This is the highest job offer made to students across some of the IITs this year. Laddha made news in 2013 when she cleared her JEE (Advanced) with an all-India rank (AIR) of six. She broke into the male-dominated top 10 ranks of the most competitive entrance exam for undergraduate admissions in the country for the first time
- IIT Indore:
Breaking the myth that established IITs fare better in job placements, a final-year computer science graduate of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Indore Gaurav Agrawal, a native of Bhilai in Chhattisgarh, bagged a job with Google at an annual package of Rs 1.7 crore per annum.
After being shortlisted he was called for on-site interview session at Gurgaon. Further interviews were held at Bangalore. Questions were asked related to programming structure and algorithms. He had then received offer letter to join as software engineer in US.
- IIT Kharagpur:
Abhishek Pant, a final-year computer science student of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, has bagged a job with a whopping Rs 2-crore annual package, including stock option, at Google Inc. in 2015. The 22-year-old, who finished a three-month internship at Google California earlier this year, went through another rigorous round of interviews before being absorbed into the design solutions cell. He had to initially clear two rounds of technical interviews over the phone for the internship.
